Our Approach- Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science which guides practitioners on using procedures that can help individuals understand and improve their behavior.  What is most attractive to consumers and practitioners, and what makes ABA so effective is its use of positive interventions, specifically positive reinforcement.

ABA has been proven to be the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.  More specifically, ABA has been identified by the Surgeon General of the United States as the most effective way to treat autism by stating, “Thirty years of research demonstrated the efficacy of applied behavioral methods in reducing inappropriate behavior and increasing communication, learning, and appropriate social behavior.”

According to the National Autism Center’s National Standards Report (2009, 2015), the behavioral interventions comprised the largest category of “Established Interventions” for children with autism (i.e., “Sufficient evidence is available to confidently determine that an intervention produces favorable outcomes for individuals on the autism spectrum. That is, these interventions are established as effective”.)

The strategies and methods of ABA are what the staff at Wickett Behavioral Solutions utilize in each and every intervention and decision.  They guide our interactions with our direct clients, the families of our clients, our stakeholders, and our employees within our company.  We as a company are comprised of individuals who educate, train, and practice using the strategies based on Applied Behavior Analysis.
